Marble Marble on the tub,
Östermalm, Stockholm
Complete renovation of a main bathroom in a historical building from 1914.
The choices of stone and wood detailing arouse from the rich details and materials throughout the building. Large slabs of Swedish Ekeberg marble was used on both floor and walls for a seamless transition from history to present. The bathtub, also cladded in the same marble functions almost like a centerpiece, yet it modestly blends in with the back wall. Each component from the vanity, with its marble top and a base in walnut, to the large scale shower wall and the shiny metal hardware interacts with each other, creating a well balanced sanctuary for the everyday life.
